A face that says nothing.

The choice

Branding is a signal.

It is tempting to print a mark on the front. It makes the object feel finished and it markets itself every time you open your wallet.

It also tells anyone who sees it what the card is for, which is the one thing we do not want it to do. A blank card is a hotel key. A branded vault card is an invitation to ask questions.

So the face carries a single hairline and nothing else. The mark lives discreetly on the reverse, and there is no serial number, no owner field, nothing that links a found card to a person.

Removed on purpose

Four things you will not find on it.

  1. I

    Your name

A card with a name on it turns a loss into a targeted approach.

  2. II

    A serial number

Nothing to correlate, register or look up. Cards are not tracked.

  3. III

    Instructions

No “scan me”, no URL. If you do not already know what it is, it does not tell you.

  4. IV

    A label field

Which card is which is a decision you make with where you keep them, not with ink.
