Stories

Two minutes, twice a year.

Why bother

Untested copies are assumptions.

Most failures are not dramatic. A card was moved during a clear-out. An entry was never updated after a password change. A person you counted on moved away.

None of that announces itself. A short check catches all of it while it is still boring to fix.

The check

Five questions.

  1. I

    Can I find all three?

    Physically, right now, without searching.

  2. II

    Does one open?

Tap it. Confirm the password still works and the list looks right.

  3. III

    Is anything stale?

Entries for accounts you closed, or passwords you have since changed.

  4. IV

    Is the note current?

Does it still name the right person and the right first step?

  5. V

    Would someone else cope?

If you were unavailable for a month, does the arrangement hold?

Check it while
it is still boring.
