In order
Sixty minutes, once.
-
I
Clear the table
Phone charged, no audience, no screen sharing. This is the one session where the room matters.
-
II
Choose the password
Decide it before you type anything else. Write it nowhere. Say it out loud a few times.
-
III
Practise a write
Put one harmless entry in a vault and write it to a card. Read it back. Now you know the motion.
-
IV
Write the real vault
Five to fifteen entries, named plainly enough for you and vaguely enough for everyone else.
-
V
Copy to all three
Same vault, three cards, one after another. Verify each by reading it back before you put it away.
-
VI
Place them
One on you, one at home, one away from home. Decide the away one now, not next month.
-
VII
Clean up
Delete the screenshots, shred the paper, empty the notes app. This step is the actual security improvement.
Leave for later
What not to do today.
Do not try to move your entire password manager onto a card. The card is for the few secrets that open everything else, not for four hundred logins.
Do not invent a complicated naming system on the first evening. Start plain; refine at your first yearly check.
One evening.
Then years of nothing.
