Stories

Things kept somewhere else.

The situation

Codes on paper by the door.

The gate code is on a sticker inside the cupboard. The safe combination is in a message from four years ago. The bike lock is in your head, until it is not.

These are not glamorous secrets, which is exactly why they end up somewhere careless, often physically next to the thing they protect.

A card treats them the same as any other entry: written once, kept in your hand, read when needed.

Easy to forget

Physical codes worth an entry.

Entry
Building door, gate, garage.
Safe
Combination, and where the override key lives.
Locks
Bike, locker, storage unit.
Alarms
Disarm code and the duress code, if you have one.
Meters
Utility box or key-safe codes for whoever comes to read them.

Not every secret
is a password.
