How it works
Three steps.
One tap.
Your phone encrypts the vault before the card stores it. To read it later, tap the card and enter your password.
Writing
From secrets to card.
- 01
Add secrets
Add the information you want to keep. Give each item a clear name, while its value stays hidden until you choose to reveal it.
- 02
Choose a password
Your password creates the encryption key on your phone. The password itself is never saved in the app or on the card.
- 03
Encrypt on device
The app encrypts the entire vault on your phone. Only the encrypted result is sent to the card.
- 04
Tap to write
Hold a card to the back of your phone. Do the same with the other two cards when you are ready to make your backup copies.
Updating
Cards are rewritable.
You can change a vault whenever you need to. Read it, edit or add a secret, then write the new version back to the card.
Because each card is independent, you decide when to refresh each copy.
In practice
What you need, what you don’t.
- Phone
- An iPhone or Android phone with the MI8OS app and a working contactless reader.
- Connection
- You do not need one. Creating, encrypting, writing and reading all work offline.
- Account
- You do not need one. There is no sign-up, cloud sync or online profile.
- Password
- Choose one password for each vault. If you forget it, the vault cannot be recovered.
- Cards
- Any MI8OS Vault Card. Each holds one vault and can be rewritten.
Keep your secrets
where you can hold them.
